Platanal hydro plant begins operations
Bnamericas Published: Thursday, December 17, 2009
Peruvian generator Celepsa has begun operations of the 220MW El Platanal hydro plant, parent Cemento Andino said in a filing sent to securities regulator Conasev. The plant uses water from the Cañete river south of Lima and supplies power through the Chilca substation. Celepsa also holds a concession to build a second hydroelectric project on another section of the Cañete river and that will be associated with El Platanal. And in September, Peru's energy and mines ministry granted Cemento a definitive generation concession for the 12.8MW Carpapata III hydro project in Junín region. Operations are due to begin 2012.
