In order to continue working as strategic allies, the President of the National Electricity Administration, Eng. Félix Sosa, accompanied by executives of the Institution, met on Monday, August 28, with members of the board of directors of the Financial Fund for the Development of the Countries of the La Plata Basin (FONPLATA), headed by its Executive President, Luciana Botafogo. During the meeting, they shared information to improve the relationship between both institutions and discussed issues aimed at achieving the development of the Paraguayan electricity sector.

Eng. Félix Sosa took the opportunity to make a brief presentation of the projects and works that are planned within the ANDE Generation, Transmission and Distribution Master Plan included in the period 2021 - 2040 and emphasized the importance of diversifying the generation matrix and the insertion of clean, renewable and firm energy in the future generating park of Paraguay, through photovoltaic parks with battery banks, as well as Small Hydroelectric Power Plants (PCH), among others.

On the other hand, he highlighted the constant support of FONPLATA for the strengthening of the infrastructure of the ANDE Transmission System and mentioned the two (2) projects that are currently financed by FONPLATA:

1) The Project for the Construction of the 220 kV Villa Hayes - Villa Real - Pozo Colorado - Loma Plata Transmission Line and the Construction of the 220 kV Pozo Colorado Substation in the Western Region under the responsibility of ANDE, which will double the transmission capacity available for the Paraguayan Chaco.

2) And the Valenzuela Substation construction project, located in the Cordillera department, which will have a total power of 1,400 MVA, benefiting around 770,000 customers in the Cordillera, Central and Asunción departments. This substation will be one of the most important for the Paraguayan electricity sector, since 5 important Transmission Lines will converge in it, allowing a greater injection of power to the National Interconnected System.

For her part, Ms. Botafogo, Executive President of FONPLATA, indicated the desire to continue supporting the implementation of the ANDE Master Plan, because she considers it essential to improve the quality of life of the population through a quality electrical service, at the same time pointing out the opportunities that Paraguay has through green lines of financing and those related to the financing of renewable energies.
