Aneel proposes 5.44% rate increase for Celpe

Bnamericas
Brazilian power regulator Aneel is proposing a 5.44% rate increase for distributor Celpe, the watchdog said in a statement. "The proposed change reflects non-manageable costs involving the acquisition and transport of energy," according to the regulator. The proposal is preliminary and will be available to the public for review through March 20. The rate change would come into effect on April 29. Celpe serves 2.77mn consumers in 185 towns in Pernambuco state, northeastern Brazil, and is controlled by energy holding group Neoenergia.
