APN grants port authorization for a US$ 540mn project for the construction of the first green hydrogen terminal in Peru
This press release was published in English using an automatic translation system
The APN, an entity attached to the MTC, granted Port Authorization to the company Horizonte de Verano SAC for the development of a port project that consists, in its first stage, of two (2) single-buoy moorings and underwater pipelines. It will also have a maritime terminal with an ammonia storage system located on the coast, equipped with thermally insulated tanks to store this compound at cryogenic temperatures, as well as a system of submarine pipelines for supplying ammonia to tanker vessels and a desalination plant.
The comprehensive project includes a plant that will produce hydrogen and green ammonia, whose distinguishing feature from ammonia obtained from hydrocarbons is that with this process the ammonia is obtained from seawater and air, without emitting CO2 in its use. For its production, exclusively renewable energy will be used, such as solar and wind.
The total estimated investment for the Horizonte de Verano project is US$540 million (mn), which will be developed in five (05) stages, with US$120mn expected to be executed in its first stage and start of operations towards the end of 2029.
APN, working for a modern and sustainable National Port System, driving innovation, competitiveness and the transition towards a cleaner economy for the country!
