Baja California Sur advances infra investment

As part of a 1.5bn-peso (US$73.4mn) economic development program for the Mulegé area, Mexico’s Baja California Sur state will invest 600mn pesos in infrastructure this year.
According to local tourism and economics minister Maribel Collins, part of the resources will go to highway rehabilitation to promote tourism and to build community access roads.
“The investment in Mulegé, coordinated with the federal government … includes works that help to promote tourist activities through rehabilitation of highways and urban works in communities like Santa Rosalía and Isla Cedros,” El Sudcaliforniano newspaper quoted Collins as saying.
So far, 50mn pesos are earmarked for the rehabilitation of the San Francisco de la Sierra highway and 100mn pesos for to the Vizcaíno-Guerrero Negro highway.
The state’s urban planning, infrastructure, mobility, environment and natural resources minister, Marco Antonio Gutiérrez de la Rosa, told El Independiente newspaper that work on the San Francisco de la Sierra highway will start in late August. He also said the tenders will be launched in the coming days.
