BG output rises on Brazil pre-salt expansion
BG Group reported a 16% rise in oil and gas production in 2015, driven by higher volumes in Australia and Brazil.
Output averaged 704,000boe/d, up from 606,000boe/d in 2014, the UK-based firm said in an earnings statement on Friday.
Production in Brazil jumped to 146,000boe/d from 78,000boe/d amid a ramp-up of pre-salt projects off the country's southeast coast.
BG posted mixed results from its other Latin American operations. In Bolivia, output climbed to 52,000boe/d from 48,000boe/d while in Trinidad and Tobago production dipped to 52,000boe/d from 65,000boe/d.
BG said 2015 pre-tax profits reached US$2.97bn compared with a loss of US$2.3bn in 2014.
In the fourth quarter, BG's deficit narrowed to US$1.17bn from US$8.3bn a year earlier.
The company expects its merger with rival Shell to be completed on February 15.
