Bogotá urban development agency IDU will publish by the end of the month the final specifications to contract the Calle 13 corridor works, sections 1 and 2 of the Cicloalameda Medio Milenio project, and the San Cristóbal cable car, which together require investment of nearly US$450mn.

The Calle 13 corridor, which runs from Batallón Caldas avenue to the Colombian capital district’s limit, will involve three contracts with a budget of 1.7tn pesos (US$353mn), which according to IDU director Diego Sánchez Fonseca is the largest tender the entity has launched in the last three years.

The final specifications will be published on December 28 and those interested in the project will have until January 17 to present bids.

Calle 13 will have four lanes of mixed traffic in each direction, a bike path on each side, and overpasses and underpasses, as well as public spaces.

To date, observations have been received on the preliminary specifications from more than 30 local and international companies that are interested in the project, according to the IDU.

The total investment in the Calle 13 project will be 2.24tn pesos.

The revamped Calle 13 will be 11.4km long and cut average travel time by nearly 30 minutes to 23 minutes.

Meanwhile, offers can be submitted until January 16 for sections 1 and 2 of the Cicloalameda Medio Milenio, which require 100bn pesos.

Medio Milenio involves 9.7km of new bike path and 110,000m2 of new public spaces. Additionally, the project will integrate with the future first line of the metro and the Regiotram de Occidente tramline.

The tender includes the works and supervision.

This month the final specifications are also due to be released for the 342bn-peso San Cristóbal cable car, which includes civil and architectural works, electromechanical equipment and systems, one year of maintenance and a compensation fund for adjustments, among other works.

Additionally, the feasibility designs for two cable car lines of the US$187mn Reencuentro Monserrate project are scheduled to be awarded on December 21, with construction due to begin by the end of 2023.

In the next few days, the competitive process to contract the supervision of the San Cristóbal cable car will open, with an estimated budget of 21.5bn pesos.

The IDU made some adjustments to the specifications and the draft of the contract for the construction of the cable car line after declaring the previous process void.

The main modifications are related to the value of the contract and the payments for the electromechanical component, which will now be expressed in euros.
