A call for bids to install a urea formaldehyde concentrate (UFC) plant at Bolivia's Bulo Bulo ammonia and urea complex in Cochabamba department has been declared void.
None of the four proposals that were submitted fulfilled bidding rule requirements, according to state hydrocarbons company YPFB. Information on whether a new process would be launched was not disclosed.
The project entails a US$36mn plant to produce 20t/d of UFC, which is a thermosetting synthetic resin.
YPFB also plans to incorporate a US$20mn methanol plant at Bulo Bulo as well as units for ammonia nitrate; nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium; and monoammonium and diammonium phosphate.
