Bolivia wind project secures land use agreement
Plans to further tap Bolivia's wind power potential as part of the country's goal for NCRE to account for a greater share of the generation park received a boost with the signing of a land use agreement for a project in Tarija department.
The deal was signed by state power company Ende and the municipality of Uriondo for the 24MW Ventolera wind farm.
Ende subsdiary Corani is developing the complex that will cost 334mn bolivianos (US$48mn) and connect to the national grid via a new 115kV substation. French development agency AFD has pledged financing.
Ventolera work underway includes technical, economic, social and environmental studies, according to Corani.
The Ende unit currently has a call for expressions in place to design, supply, install and start up turbines for the Warnes, San Julián and El Dorado wind projects, and is also developing the Qolpana III wind farm.
Corani operates Bolivia's sole wind farms: Qollpana (3MW) and Qollpana II (24MW).
