This is a machine translation of a press release by Brazil's Associação de Terminais Portuários Privados (ATP)

Private Use Terminals (TUPs) broke a record in September, with 69.1 million tons handled and growth of 7.2% over the previous period, reaching the highest handling since 2010. The data is from the most recent survey by the Association of Private Port Terminals (ATP), based on data available at DATaPort.

Among the highlights of September in the TUPs is corn, with an increase of 112.8% in its movement. According to DATaPort, mineral fuels grew by 4.9%, and ores, slag and ash by 4.5%, in private terminals.

"The great highlight was the movement of corn, which contributed significantly to reaching this record, in the month of September, after 12 years. Arco Norte, once again, had great representation in the flow of grains, reinforcing its strategic location for the country's logistics", analyzes the president of the ATP, Murillo Barbosa.

The positive result extended to the port sector as a whole, which handled 105.7 million tons in September and reached growth of 6.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, also with the best performance in the month since 2010.

According to the ATP, the increase in movement was mainly due to the records in the 2021/2022 corn harvest in solid bulk and the increase in the movement of fuels and mineral oils.

Regarding the regions of the country, the North has been consolidated as a reference in the flow of grains. Public and private terminals in the region had a share of 29.5% of the total handled corn by cabotage and long distance, in September. The private terminals that handled cereals and seeds stood out: TERFRON (+291.8%), Hidrovias do Brasil Terminal in Vila do Conde (+104.8%) and Grain Terminal in Ponta da Montanha (+67.4%). %).
