Brazil's mining regulator changes mineral declaration standards

Streamlining local standards with global ones, Brazil’s mining regulator ANM changed the mineral declaration model.

Companies must now also consider resources besides reserves in their annual reports, to be filed by March.

“The implemented changes do not only alter nomenclatures, but are part of a gradual adaptation of the quantification of Brazil’s mineral heritage to internationally accepted standards for mineral resources and reserves, the reference being the [CRIRSCO reporting standards], represented in Brazil by [resources and reserves entity CBRR],” ANM’s head of economic regulation and regulatory governance, Yuri de Moraes, said in a press release.

ANM expects 15,000 reports this year.
