Building to begin on 110km fiber optic line along La Puna gas pipeline
This is a machine translation of the Salta government release originally published in Spanish.
With an investment of more than four million dollars, 110 kilometers of fiber optics will be laid along the route of the La Puna gas pipeline, made possible thanks to a collaboration agreement signed today by the companies Salta Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación SE (SALTIC) and Recursos Energéticos y Mineros de Salta (REMSA).
At the signing of the document, headed by the minister of Government, Human Rights and Labor and president of SALTIC Ricardo Villada, and the president of REMSA, Alberto Castillo, the officials referred to the importance of the work, which runs from San Antonio de los Cobres to Salar de Pocitos passing through Olacamato, to the technological, energy and mining development of Salta.
On the occasion, the minister explained that the work will comprise three stages: the first that will include the laying of the optical fiber, the civil works and the FO cable, the second in which the electronic installation and the nodes will be developed and the third, in which additional systems will be implemented for the integral development of the project.
“With this work we are going to provide connectivity to La Puna and we will provide internet, not only to the companies located in the area, but also to the residents who have waited for this service for a long time,” said Villada.
"Governor Gustavo Sáenz determined that mining and energy are state policies and this work is part of that project and political decision," Castillo said to underline the importance of the work for the development of the province.
“Currently the mining and energy companies are asking for these conditions for development; connectivity and good routes, apart from the legal certainty and clear rules that Salta offers. With this work we are also going to generate new jobs and obtain new suppliers, thus generating a new market,” assured the president of REMSA.
