Chile sets vote on changes to metro line extension

Chile’s environmental evaluation service (SEA) will vote on modifications to the US$476mn extension of line N°2 of Santiago’s metro on July 20.

The modifications involve changing the design of the Riquelme station and moving the location of seven construction sites to optimize works, the environmental impact assessment (EIA) states. The changes would cost US$1.4mn.

Work on the extension began last year and entails adding 5.2km and four new stations to the line, to reach El Pino hospital in San Bernardo to the south of the capital.
