COES approves start of Kallpa combined cycle plant

Peru's grid operator COES has approved the start of operations of the 857MW Kallpa IV combined cycle plant in Lima's southern Chilca district, generator Kallpa Generación said in a statement to securities regulator SMV. Kallpa Generación is a subsidiary of Lima-based Inkia Energy, which has operations in South and Central America as well as the Caribbean. Posco Engineering and Construction was the lead contractor on the project and Guayaquil-based Santos CMI handled the civil and electromechanical works. GE provided the 207D-11 steam turbine that converted the gas-fired plant into a combined cycle plant.
