Colombia reports hydropower uptick

The aggregate hydroelectric dam level in Colombia stood at 68% of usable volume on January 31, down six points from end-December.

Wholesale power market administrator XM attributed the drop to greater hydropower use.

Water flow for power generation last month stood at 127% of the historical average compared with 108% in December on account of above-average precipitation in January.

Hydropower represented 81% of January generation followed by thermoelectric plants with 11%, and small plants and cogeneration with 7%. Imports accounted for the balance.

Also from Colombia, no counteroffers were submitted in a call to shore up transmission dispatch in Atlántico department after only one offer was submitted, according to information from mining and energy planning unit UPME.
