Bnamericas Published: Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Colombia will hold an auction for a third private TV license in the first quarter of 2015, according to national TV authority ANTV.

ANTV also said it will continue to develop educational and cultural content for public television next year. In the last two years, it has used 7.62bn pesos (US$3.18mn) from the TV and content development fund to develop public TV content.

Furthermore, the authority will launch a campaign for residents to obtain the appropriate digital decoders as part of efforts to implement DTV, and plans to work on revising public policy and simplifying regulation regarding TV.

Some 94% of Colombian households have a TV set, compared to 82% in Latin America and 97% in North America, according to a study by IT and telecom chamber CCIT.
