Colombia's GEB outlines US$1.6bn capex plan
Colombia's Grupo Energía Bogota (GEB) aims to invest US$1.62bn over the next five years as it prioritizes transmission projects in Brazil, the company said in a quarterly presentation.
Some US$478mn have been earmarked for this year, US$482mn for 2025, US$375mn for 2026, US$142mn for 2027 and US$149mn for 2028.
Transmission projects account for US$1.03bn, gas distribution US$278mn, gas transport US$196mn and electricity distribution US$120mn.
In its quarterly earnings call, the company said it was on track to complete its flagship Colectora transmission project in Colombia within two years, having received regulatory approval to proceed with the second stage in August.
GEB said it would continue to seek new projects in Brazil, citing the country's favorable regulatory environment for transmission investments.
The company reported third-quarter net income of 800bn pesos (US$179mn), the same as the corresponding period last year. From January to October, net income reached 2.1tn pesos compared to 2.3tn pesos a year earlier.
