Comerc Eficiência was present at the launch ceremony of the first PPP (Public-Private Partnership) in the city of Itatiba, which will replace current light bulbs with 16,000 LED bulbs, generating more lighting, energy savings and reduction in CO 2 emissions of the municipality. According to the contract, the Consortium Ilumina Itatiba, composed of Comerc Eficiência and Engeluz, will also manage, maintain and update all public lighting in the city.

In addition to the savings that will be generated, replacing the light bulbs will provide an improvement in the sense of security, given that the LED lights will have a much greater lighting capacity than conventional ones, making the roads more visible and safer, facilitating circulation. of the inhabitants, assisting in the monitoring and action of the Police in several places. Another determining factor for the partnership is that energy savings will provide a reduction in CO 2 emissions in the city, which should revolve around 720 tons per month, making the PPP not only more profitable, but also sustainable for Itatiba.

“In these projects, energy efficiency is a crucial point for the parties involved, as the city will be able to realize the size of its reduction in energy costs, as well as the gains with sustainability. It is a sum of factors, such as the high productivity and useful life of the lamps, process automation, efficient management, technologies and reduction of CO 2 emitting factors”, points out Marcel Haratz, president of Comerc Eficiência. “In this project, for example, it will be possible to achieve an efficiency of more than 50% compared to the productivity of current lighting fixtures, and it is through this efficiency that gains are generated for the city”, concludes Wagner Teles Mancini, PPP and Public Lighting by Comerc Eficiência.

The concession is long-term, with a duration of 23 years. In addition to updating the lights on all current poles, 500 new poles will be installed to make up for the lack of lighting at points studied by the consortium, ensuring that there are no places with light gaps. One of the differentials is the technology that will be applied to all poles, preparing them for what is called the “Smart City”, with automation for remote management of all points, speeding up calls and identifying exchange possibilities, and the possibility of installing 5G on all poles for future projects.

The PPP is now in the preparation phase for the works and implementations and, on the last October 25th, the city hall held a ceremony to make the Consórcio Ilumina Itatiba official, in which a pilot project was presented in a street in the city center to demonstrate the differences on all streets when the replacement of current lamps with LED ones is complete. The start is scheduled for March 2023 and the implementation stages should last about 12 months until completion, according to those responsible for the winning consortium.
