Construction material prices trending down in Dominican Rep
The price of steel rods used for construction in the Dominican Republic has declined 11.7% since reaching record highs in June 2021, along with other materials.
“Electrical wires are down 15%; iron angles, 33%; steel nails, 10%; metal beams, 30%; welding, 15%; mesh tubes, 20%; PVC pipes, 10%; zinc, 10%; beams, 10%," the head of the Santiago chamber of commerce and production Carlos Iglesias Rodríguez, was quoted as saying by Diario Libre.
Inflation in the Dominican Republic came in at 9.5% in May, slightly lower than in April.
