Data Watch: Fixed telephony in Brazil
Numbers of fixed lines in service in Brazil fell 3% year-over-year in September to 41.1mn, according to regulator Anatel.
The numbers match with the recent national households survey released by statistics bureau IBGE, which showed that fixed telephony has been declining. Just 34.5% of Brazilian homes had a fixed connection last year, whereas 92.3% had mobile lines.
Vivo, Claro and Oi lead the local market, divided among concession-holders and private regime autorizadas.
