Dominican Republic creates education infra department

The Dominican Republic created the education infrastructure department, which will absorb duties formerly assigned to the public works, communications and transport ministry (MOPC). 

Duties include publishing resolutions concerning policies and norms for architectural design, refurbishment, and maintenance of school buildings. 

According to decree 661-22, publishing these resolutions was previously regulated by the MOPC and the housing ministry. From January, the education ministry will be responsible. 

“The staff assigned to the national program for school buildings, overseen by the public works, communications and transport ministry, will be transferred to the department for school infrastructure at the education ministry,” according to the decree.
