Ecopetrol completes 3D seismic shoot off Caribbean coast
Colombia's Ecopetrol has completed a 3D seismic survey in block COL-5 off the Caribbean coast, the state-run company said on Thursday.
The two-month campaign covered 2,000km2 and will allow Ecopetrol to identify possible extensions to recent discoveries.
Norwegian geophysical services provider Shearwater conducted the deepwater shoot aboard its SW Amundsen vessel, with the help of local support ships and helicopters.
COL-5 lies adjacent to the Gorgon, Kronos and Purple Angel areas, where major finds were reported from 2015 to 2017.
In August, Ecopetrol CEO Felipe Bayón said the company was seeking offshore partners to develop the blocks.
Ecopetrol already has Colombian offshore joint ventures with Spanish major Repsol and Brazil's state-run Petrobras.
