Ecuador: Termogas Machala increased its electricity generation by 23%

This Celec release was published using machine translation.
Given the reduction in production at hydroelectric plants due to the dry season and in order to guarantee electrical service for the country, the CELEC EP Termogas Machala Business Unit increased the supply of energy generation from its thermal park by 23.2 % for the National Interconnected System (SNI).
Miguel Herdoiza, manager of Termogas Machala, explained that the increase in energy was achieved by the increase in one million cubic feet of natural gas per day by EP PETROECUADOR. This made it possible to increase the supply of generation in Unit 6FA-2. In addition, an additional turbine (model TM-2500) was commissioned for diesel power generation.
The official also highlighted the willingness to work in the technical and administrative areas of the Business Unit. "We are currently continuing with the work of recovering as much of the thermal park as possible."
CELEC EP Termogas Machala is located near Bajo Alto beach, one of the best-known tourist spots in the province of El Oro. The plant has 238 MW (megawatts) of installed capacity to generate electricity for the country, that is, its capacity exceeds the demand required by the Province of El Oro.
