EDP completes implementation of platform that modernizes power grid management

São Paulo, August 17, 2026 – EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the Brazilian electricity sector, has completed the implementation of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS). The platform marks a new stage in power grid management by bringing together, in a single digital environment, all the information needed to monitor, control, and operate the power distribution system in real time.

In practice, the ADMS works as an intelligent network operations center. Previously, the teams used different systems to monitor the operation of the electrical system. Now, all this information is integrated into a single platform, offering a complete view of the operation and enabling faster, more accurate, and more coordinated decisions in the face of any incident.

The modernization increases EDP’s ability to identify situations that may impact the power supply, anticipate risks, speed up service restoration, and make operations even more efficient. The result is a grid that is better prepared to respond to everyday challenges and offer greater reliability to customers.

In addition to operational gains, the ADMS connects people, processes, and data within a single technological structure. Information that was previously analyzed separately is now consolidated into a single view of the power grid, strengthening operational planning, coordination between teams, and decision-making.

The implementation is taking place at a time of profound transformations in the electricity sector. The advance of distributed generation, with the expansion of solar energy systems, the growing electrification of the economy, the higher incidence of extreme weather events, and the digitalization of grids demand operations that are increasingly intelligent, flexible, and data-driven.

Project trajectory

There were 30 months of uninterrupted work, bringing together more than 360 professionals from different areas of the company and partner firms in a coordinated effort to turn a strategic vision into reality. Over this period, more than 4 thousand hours of training were carried out, preparing operators and multipliers who today spread this knowledge throughout the entire organization.

The implementation also required the management of approximately 80 organizational impacts, thousands of test scenarios and validations, as well as the mobilization of dozens of partners who contributed at every stage of the journey. From the technological infrastructure – including the construction of a new data center – to the support services that sustained the teams’ daily work, each delivery was essential for the project to reach this moment.

Behind the technology, there is a story of collaboration. Specialists from different disciplines, field teams, operations, technology, engineering, projects, infrastructure, partners, and suppliers worked side by side to build a solution that today is redefining how EDP’s Distribution operates.
