El Salvador extends Chaparral hydro prequal
El Salvador has extended prequalification to build the 65.8MW El Chaparral hydro in San Miguel department.
State power company CEL in August issued the prequalification call, documents for which now are due and will be opened January 15. Procurement information in Spanish is available here.
The project will span the municipalities of San Luis de la Reina, Carolina and San Antonio del Mosco.
Chaparral will boast a roller compacted concrete gravity dam and a machine house for two, 32.2MW Francis vertical axis type turbines; a 1.42MW auxiliary unit; and a 115kV substation, among other works and components.
