Argentine President Mauricio Macri announced the signing of PPAs for 16 renewable energy projects totaling 818MW that were awarded through the RenovAr Ronda 1 national tender.
The projects, which can be viewed here, comprise seven wind farms, four small hydropower projects, four solar parks and a biogas plant.
The projects will be developed by Central Térmica Loma La Lata (a subsidiary of Pampa Energía), Eren, Envision Energy-Sowitec, Envision Energy, Patagonia Energía, Fieldfare-Isolux, Emesa-Constructora Eléctrica del Oeste, Enat-SEG Ingeniería-Otamendi-Nuevo Cerro Dragón, Nacarato and Jemse.
Emesa and Jemse are the state-owned energy companies of Mendoza and Jujuy provinces, respectively.
Through the RenovAr Ronda 1 and Ronda 1.5 auctions, a total of 2,424MW of clean energy projects requiring US$4bn of investment were awarded, with PPAs clearing at an average price of US$57.4/MWh.
Once in operation, the projects will generate 8.3TWh/y of electricity, the energy and mining ministry said in a statement, equal to 5.7% of projected demand for 2018.
So far, PPAs have been signed for 1,133MW of the 2,424MW awarded. Under the supply agreements, wholesale power market administrator Cammesa is the offtaker.
