Brazil's electric power regulator Aneel has risen to 74.03 reais (US$22.52) per MWh the reference tariff (TAR) used for financial compensation for the use of water resources for power generation.
The new tariff, valid as of January 2018, is up 2.54% from this year's 72.20 reais/MWh.
Under Brazilian law, the financial compensation is assigned to local states and municipalities where hydro plants are located.
Aneel also revised the average hydraulic energy price (PMEH) to 123.19 reais/MWh as of next January.
