Colombia minister credits government policy for improved energy security

Responsible policies initiated in the 1990s are behind Colombia's improved energy security, mines and energy minister Tomás González told local media.

González cited a World Energy Council (WEC) survey which ranked Colombia fifth out of 130 nations in energy security.

The minister's comments precede the WEC's World Energy Leaders' Summit in Cartagena, Colombia, where on October 23 Caribbean and Latin American energy ministers are scheduled to meet to discuss the region's energy future.
