EEB wins Colombia transmission tender

Colombia's mines and energy planning unit UPME awarded local power holding Empresa de Energía de Bogotá (EEB) a tender for a new electricity substation near the city of Ciénaga on the Caribbean coast.

Works include the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the 220kV Río Córdoba substation and associated transmission lines, an UPME release said.

"Río Córdoba is the sixth tender we've awarded in the second half of the year, with a view to ensuring power supply across the country, particularly the Caribbean coast," UPME director Ángela Inés Cadena added.

EEB won with a US$14.7mn offer, beating competitor ISA's US$19mn offer. The project is scheduled to be operational by November 30, 2016.
