Gerdau awards Argentina transmission project

Brazil-based steelmaker Gerdau selected Spanish energy company Abengoa to build a 6km transmission line in Argentina which will transport power to a new steel plant in Santa Fe province.

The 27mn-euro (US$33.6mn) project is one of three transmission contracts that Abengoa has won in Argentina this quarter, the company said.

Abengoa will handle procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the 2x220kV project, the statement said, with completion of works expected within 12 months.
