Tomás González was officially sworn in as Colombia's new mines and energy minister, a ministry release reported.
González has a PhD in economics from the University of London. Prior to serving as deputy minister at Minminas, he held positions at local gas and energy regulator Creg, national mining agency ANM, power firms ISA and Isagén and Ecopetrol subsidiary Hocol.
González replaces Amylkar Acosta, who served for four years.
