Latest Panama solar licenses near 40MW

Panama authorities granted provisional licenses for solar power generation projects that total 37.5MW.

Information from public services regulator Asep reveals the developers are Green Electric (10MW), Llanos Sanchez Solar Power (9.99MW Don Felix), Solar Azuero Venture (9.52MW Los Ángeles) and Solpac Investment (8MW Pacora II).

The photovoltaic (PV) parks are planned for provinces Coclé, Los Santos, Panamá and Veraguas.

The companies have 12 months to submit required documents to secure the definitive concessions.

The watchdog also granted Empresas Melo a self-supply certificate valid for 180 days for a 1MW PV unit dubbed La Mesa Fase I.

Panama's first grid connected solar plant came online in February and the country's first process to secure offtake from this alternative energy is underway.
