
Enel Green Power Panama installed the first panels of “Madre Vieja” solar project

Panamá, April 28th, 2022 - Enel Green Power Panamá (“EGPP”), the renewable energy subsidiary of Enel SpA (“Enel” or “the Group”) installed the first solar panels of the “Madre Vieja” project. The solar park, located in the jurisdiction of Progreso, district of Barú, province of Chiriquí, occupies a maximum area of 33 hectares and will have an installed capacity of 31 MW, which will be added to more than 100 solar MW that the company has in the country.
The photovoltaic modules have a dimension of 211.1 centimeters high, 104.6 long and 3 wide, in addition to an individual capacity of 445 (20%), 450 (60%) and 455 (20%) Watts (W), monocrystalline type. 68,580 solar panels will be used and 754 mounting structures are already installed.
Madre Vieja, which bears the name of the community where it will be located and corresponds to the 2nd stage of the project that includes Jagüito (13 MW) and Esperanza (26 MW), will deliver sustainable energy to 7 large clients in the Country.

Enel Green Power Panama is the main renewable energy operator in the country, in terms of installed capacity. The company operates the 300 MW Fortuna Hydroelectric Plant and the 12 MW Chiriquí photovoltaic plant, both in the province of Chiriquí, as well as the 42 MW Sol Real photovoltaic complex, composed of five plants distributed between the provinces of Chiriquí and Coclé and Estrella Solar of 8 MW in Coclé and 39 MW from the La Esperanza Solar Complex, which includes two plants (Esperanza and Jagüito) distributed in Chiriqui and Coclé.
