Enel Green Power starts work on 158MW Brazil solar park

Enel Green Power has begun building its 158MW Lapa solar park in Brazil, the company said on Monday.

About US$175mn will be invested in the project, which comprises the 80MW Bom Jesus da Lapa and 78MW Lapa facilities, Enel said in a statement.

The Rome-based company secured 20-year supply contracts for Brazil's power market clearing house CCEE at an auction held last August.

Located in Bom Jesus da Lapa in the northeastern state of Bahia, the park is expected online in late 2017, generating around 340GWh a year.

Enel Green Power's installed capacity in Brazil stands at 506MW, of which 401MW comes from wind, 12MW from solar and 93MW from hydropower

A further 442MW of wind, 102MW of hydropower and 807MW of solar projects are under construction.
