Petroecuador has dispatched 90,836 gallons of Ecoplus 89 gasoline between August 22 and August 27 from the Productos Limpios Pascuales Terminal and the Esmeraldas Refinery.

The pilot plan consists of selling the new gasoline in 80 gas stations in the provinces of Guayas, Esmeraldas and Los Ríos to offer consumers a new fuel alternative together with Extra and Ecopaís.

Ecoplus 89 is made with 92% 85.5 octane gasoline and 8% ethanol, a high-octane biofuel, so it has zero sulfur and is non-polluting.

The price to consumers of the new gasoline is US$3.89 per gallon, and it does not carry any subsidies. Prices change on the 11th of each month, in accordance with what is established by the Regulation for Fixing Prices of Hydrocarbon Derivatives.

The calculation of the price of the new gasoline is made based on the reference price of WTI plus the supplier's margin of US$0.07/gallon and the marketing margin (reference) of 30% additional to Extra and Ecopaís gasoline.

Ecoplus 89 octane gasoline has around 200 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur, while the INEN standard requires a maximum of 650 ppm, which means a reduction in acid gas emissions into the atmosphere.
