The General Superintendence of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET) announced that the average prices of electrical energy continue experiencing stability for the next three months.

The average price of energy to be transferred to the tariff will have a reduction of 2.56% for the next quarter, which will benefit the pocket of the Salvadoran population.

This decrease also occurs after the Government of President Nayib Bukele kept the prices of electricity to be transferred to the population fixed, during 2022, as a measure to mitigate the impact of international inflation.

Among the factors that influenced the drop in energy prices was the contribution of renewable energies in the fourth quarter of 2022 (hydroelectric, solar, geothermal, wind and biomass), which represented 75.9% of total production. This is proof of the consolidation of a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy matrix.

In addition, generation from natural gas was 16.29% in the previous quarter, meeting the objective of diversifying the energy matrix. And for the period from October to December 2022, fuel prices showed a significant decrease compared to the previous quarter.

The new energy prices will be in force from January 15 to April 14 of the current year.

Likewise, the Government maintains the subsidy for all families that consume up to 105 kWh per month.
