Honduras to tender construction of US$50mn hospital in September

The Honduran health ministry will launch a tender to build a US$50mn hospital in September.

This hospital will be located in Choluteca municipality on land that was donated by private citizens.

The tender will be published on procurement website Honducompras and, if the schedule goes ahead as planned, the contract would be awarded in December, minister José Manuel Matheu was quoted as saying by daily El Heraldo.

Construction is expected to start in January 2024 and finish in mid-2025.

The works to build this hospital, specialized in surgical operations, will be financed by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei).

The facility will have 140 beds and a modular architectural design that would allow expansion according to the region’s needs. The hospital will serve 165,000 people.
