A partnership between Huawei, a multinational leader in infrastructure for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and smart devices, and internet provider Veloso Net, from Amazonas, is changing the reality of thousands of people on the banks of the Solimões River.

The initiative has allowed the installation of 4G and 5G broadband in riverside communities and cities located along the course of the river, which has an extension of 1,700 kilometers, from Tabatinga, a city on the border with Colombia, to Manaus.

“We bring great quality internet at an affordable price to regions that were isolated or with precarious services until recently”, celebrates Júnior Veloso, CEO of Veloso Net. “We currently serve seven municipalities and, by the end of 2023, the goal is to reach another 12 cities and 18 riverside communities”.

“We have qualified collaborators, present in almost a third of the state of Amazonas”, explains Jefferson Sena, CIO of Veloso Net. “The partnership with Huawei is fundamental to fill the communication gap in the region, which reaches 30% of the population”.

Huawei and Veloso Net provide fast and stable wireless internet, enabling the advancement of new and better public and private services, as well as the integration of isolated communities and economic development in the region.

For Jeff Jin, president of Carrier Business at Huawei Brazil, “the partnership allowed an increase in coverage by 50% and capacity by 30%, in addition to exponentially optimizing the TCO of network investment”.

“In the future, Huawei will continue its actions with partners such as Veloso Net in order to connect more cities and more riverside communities, helping to build a fully connected and intelligent Amazon in Brazil for Brazil”, he concludes.
