IN BRIEF: Argentina prepares San Juan-Mendoza highway tender

Argentina is planning to launch by around the end of June a tender for the project to widen the Route 40 highway between the namesake capitals of provinces San Juan and Mendoza, said Patricia Gutiérrez, roads director for the country's Cuyo region.

The project entails an expansion of around 160km of Ruta 40, with required investment approximated at 2.3bn pesos (US$150mn), Gutiérrez said, as reported by news outlet Diario La Provincia SJ.

Gutiérrez was appointed on Monday (Mar 7), which is the first time an official has been designated to oversee Cuyo road works, according to the daily. Cuyo is located in central western Argentina, and is comprised by the provinces of Mendoza, San Luis, San Juan, and La Rioja.
