Bnamericas
Paraguay's public works ministry MOPC is examining the terms and conditions of a US$220mn loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA) to financing the 147km paving of a highway in southeastern Paraguay, an MOPC press release said. Know as Paraguay's "grain export corridor" the new highway would stretch between Presidente Franco, in the outskirts of Ciudad del Este, and Natalio, in the department Itapúa, which borders Argentina. Following its examination, MOPC will submit the terms and conditions of the loan to congress for approval. Meanwhile the ministry plans to issue a call for consulting services and the final engineering design, MOPC said. The Paraguay government will put up US$40mn of its own money to fund the project, which also includes the construction of tolls booth and weight stations.
