Jalisco state readies expansion of Guadalajara's BRT system

After months of speculation regarding the potential expansion of Guadalajara’s BRT system Mi Macro Periférico, it has become clear that it will be expanded to Tonalá municipality.
Mexico’s Jalisco state published four tenders on the procurement website of its infrastructure and public works ministry (SIOP) to carry out preparation studies for the project in the state capital.
Under ID number SIOP-E-SROP-SER-LP-1164-2022, the first tender is for the topographic studies to build the new line’s stations.
The SIOP-E-SROP-SER-LP-1165-2022 process entails the preparation of soil mechanics studies for the stations, while SIOP-E-SROP-SER-LP-1166-2022 is for the geometric studies.
The fourth tender, SIOP-E-SROP-SER-LP-1167-2022, involves the infrastructure studies and the executive project.
For all four, the registration deadline is December 6 with proposals due on December 12. The winners will be announced on December 16 and the contracts signed the following day.
The deadline to complete the topographic studies is January 30, while the soil mechanics studies are due on February 14. The corresponding dates for the geometric studies and the infrastructure studies and executive project are February 28 and March 16, respectively.
Tonalá is currently served by regular bus routes with C01 taking passengers to Mi Macro Periférico stations.
The tenders were published only days after a project to build a BRT route between the city’s metropolitan area and its international airport.
