Mexico mulls rehabilitating Armería-Manzanillo aqueduct
Asipona Manzanillo, the operator of Mexican port Manzanillo in Colima state, is looking to award on November 16 a contract to produce the executive plan for constructing, improving or rehabilitating the Armería-Manzanillo aqueduct.
Bids are due to be submitted on November 2 and the contract signed on November 23, according to procurement site Compranet.
Details of the project are vague, but President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in August said the aqueduct would be rehabilitated to provide water to the northern part of the state.
It is unclear why the port administrator would undertake the work. More details could emerge once the winning company is selected.
According to the procurement documents, the executive plan involves collection and analysis of information, topography, hydrology, geotechnical exploration in new construction sites, detailed engineering, description of operation and the development of the executive project.
The pipeline, originally built in the 1980s, has been subject to several repairs recently.
