Mexico seeking bids for complementary aqueduct works
Mexican water authority Conagua has launched two tenders for complementary works for the 39km El Salto-Calderón aqueduct that is part of the unfinished 11bn-peso (US$558mn) El Zapotillo dam, in Jalisco state.
The pipeline’s construction contract was awarded on August 3 to Tecno Arrendamientos y Construcciones for 1bn pesos, and Conagua is seeking bids for two sets of complementary projects, according to records on procurement site Compranet.
One involves the delivery line and regime change tank and the other the aqueduct's intake, interconnection line and pump plant.
Conagua will receive bids for the first set of works on December 26, while the winner will be unveiled on January 9, according to the tender call (PC-016B00005-N8-2022).
A tender call (PC-016B00985-E248-2022) was issued on December 1 for the second set, with the bids submission deadline and other key dates to be published in the near future.
The aqueduct will help deliver 3,000l/s of water to the metropolitan area of state capital Guadalajara from the El Zapotillo dam across the Río Verde river in Los Altos municipality.
The project coincides with the plan that the authorities presented in September when it was confirmed that the dam works would resume nearly a decade after community opposition halted its progress. Conagua head Germán Martínez Santoyo said at the time that the government would invest around 7bn pesos in the complementary works for the dam.
