Mexico's CFE awards Siemens US$30mn transmission contract
Mexico's federal utility CFE has awarded Siemens a US$29.8mn substation and transmission line project in the northern state of Coahuila.
The contract is for the construction of a 400/115kV substation and five 115kV transmission lines totaling 25km, CFE said in a press release.
The project will guarantee the electricity supply in that state and reduce operating costs, and provide a better quality and more economical service to customers, according to the company.
Siemens' bid was 8.7% below CFE's budget ceiling for the project. Other firms that include Abengoa México, Isolux de México and Sacyr Industrial México.
The utility said in May last year it would invest US$40bn in the modernization and expansion of the national grid.
