After a long debate, the indigenous federations of the Curaray de Loreto River basin agreed to maintain social peace and guarantee free movement in the area, favoring the reactivation of oil activity in Block 67 and Block 39.

This and other agreements were reached in the third session of the Technical Working Group that addresses the problems of the communities, localities and hamlets of the Curaray and Arabela river basin - Lot 67 (within the framework of Ministerial Resolution No. 156- 2022-MINEM/DM) chaired by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), through the General Office of Social Management (OGGS).

During the meeting, the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Martín Dávila Pérez, and the mayor of Napo, Gil Blas Ruiz Ríos, signed an agreement for the financial transfer of resources in favor of the District Municipality of Napo (Loreto) for more than S/ 6.9 million to the creation and installation of the drinking water and sanitation system of the Huitotos de Negro Urco Population Center.

Likewise, the sectors present announced important progress on their pending commitments. The indigenous organizations FECONCU and FECONACA promised to maintain social peace in the area and guarantee free transit on the Curaray River, which will favor oil activity in blocks 67 and 39.

Meanwhile, the Executive promised to monitor and support the management of projects, executing nuclei and public investment projects in the communities of Curaray and Arabela.

Meanwhile, the Perenco company stated, as a sign of good faith, that it will not promote the complaints made in relation to the latest measure of force of the native communities affiliated with the FECONCU federation, in the Native Community of San Rafael.

This consultation space was held on Saturday, December 3 in the city of Iquitos, with the participation of officials from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, the Regional Government of Loreto, the General Directorate of Captaincies and Coast Guard, Perupetro and the company Perenco. In addition, representatives of more than 15 native communities and the indigenous federations FECONCU and FECONACA.
