Bnamericas
Power consumption in Mexico rose 1.9% in November 2002 from the same month in 2001, according to figures released by national statistics institute INEGI this week. Consumption increases by state were: Tlaxcala and Queretaro (10.3% each), Durango (8.9%), Veracruz (8.7%), Puebla (4.5%), Yucatan (3.6%), Aguascalientes and San Luis Potosi (3.4% each), Jalisco (3.3%), Distrito Federal (3%), Coahuila (2.8%) and Morelos (2.1%). States that reported lower consumption were Mexico (-9.3%), Nuevo Leon (-9.1%), Sonora (-8.9%), Baja California (-3.9%) and Sinaloa (-1.2%). The falls in these first three states were due to lower domestic and industrial consumption, while in Baja California and Sinaloa the falls came from lower domestic and commercial consumption, INEGI said.
