OHLA nets 75mn euro Metro contract in Chile

Press release from OHLA
OHLA has been awarded a new section of the construction project of Line 7 of the Santiago de Chile (Chile) subway for an amount close to 75 million euros. The initiative, granted by Empresa de Transporte de Pasajeros Metro S.A., corresponds to section 4 and is in addition to other actions previously carried out by the company on other suburban lines.
The project, which is part of the plan to expand the metro network to improve transportation in the city, includes, among other works, the construction of three construction shafts and a station shaft, all with their respective access galleries, as well as the construction of 240 meters of station tunnel and the execution of 3,400 meters of intersection tunnels. The project also includes the execution of the civil works of the stations, platforms, mezzanines and access stairs, as well as the construction of the Rectifier Substation of the Isidora Goyenechea Station. As a constructive singularity, the section includes the connection with another line currently in operation (line 6) and a shaft with 2 double-height galleries.
Prior to these works, the company has participated in various construction projects in the Santiago Metro. It is worth mentioning the civil works of shafts, galleries and tunnels, both stations and inter-stations, in sections 5 and 6 of Line 3, with a combined length of 6 kilometers. It has also carried the out civil works of shafts and galleries in sections 1 and 2, as well as reinforcement shafts for the Franklin station, which combines the current line 2 with line 6, a technical and constructive challenge as it was the first subway station in Chile to be built under another in service, as well as the workshops and garages of line 6. At present, it is making progress in the construction of civil works, shafts, galleries and tunnels for the extension of Line 3, Section A in Quilicura.
More than 40 years in Chile
OHLA began its activity in Chile in 1981. Since then, it has maintained a permanent presence in the country, participating in major projects such as the construction of Américo Vespucio Oriente I, recently inaugurated, the construction of a 110 km section of Route 60, the access to the port of San Antonio or the 218 km Santiago-Los Vilos section of Route 5. In addition to these initiatives, there are others, such as the construction of eight hospitals with more than 2,865 beds and 418,000 square meters, including the Military, Gustavo Fricke and Curicó Hospitals; the National Congress building in Valparaíso; the United States Embassy in Santiago, various mining works, and the construction of the Valparaíso-Viña del Mar Metro.
The company’s portfolio also includes the construction of the Forensic Medical Service in Santiago, the concession contract to design, build and operate four hospitals in the region of Biobío (Santa Bárbara, Nacimiento, Coronel and Lota), the replacement of the police complex of the Investigative Police in Viña del Mar, the Carabineros training school in Concepción, the Santiago Justice Center concession, providing security, cleaning and maintenance services, and for the height extension and construction of walls of the tailings deposit of Minera Spence.
