Panama awards US$36mn power dispatch project
Panama’s state power transmission company Etesa has selected a winner in the tender to revamp the Veladero-San Bartolo-Llano Sánchez-El Coco-Panamá II line.
The 600-day contract went to Consorcio Panama II (Iverco-Neminca) which bid US$35.9mn, procurement information shows.
BNamericas previously reported that the consortium was one of four groups that submitted offers in the call, which was issued in December.
The overhaul of the 316km, 230kV link will boost dispatch of the national interconnected system from the west of the country, home to hydropower potential.
Meanwhile, Etesa suspended the bidding process to carry out easement studies for the country’s planned fourth main transmission line after an appeal was filed by a potential participant.
