Plan for new pier at Panama's Puerto Armuelles advances

Panama’s maritime authority (AMP) awarded the US$21.2mn contract to build a new pier at the city of Puerto Armuelles to the ASOBUZ consortium.

The consortium is made up by local company Administración y Supervisión de Obras Civiles and Colombia’s BUZCA Soluciones de Ingeniería.

The contract includes studies, design, project development and construction.

Armuelles is located in the Barú district of Chiriquí province.

“AMP is convinced this project will benefit the economy of Barú district in a direct way, and the Chiriquí province in general due to the generation of direct and indirect employment and, once it has been completed, the pier will have an impact on the fishing, tourism and maritime industries,” it said in a press release.

The proposal presented by ASOBUZ met all technical, administrative, financial requirements, obtaining score of 95%, AMP said.
