Panama’s 4th power transmission line advances with contract award
Panama’s state power transmission company Etesa has awarded a contract to carry out easement studies for the country’s planned fourth main transmission line.
The winner of the 360-day contract was Consorcio Conavsa & CWORK LT4/Compañía Nacional de Avalúos and Civil Work with a bid of US$3.5mn, procurement information shows.
The other bidder was Consorcio Asociación Cuarta Línea/Manhattan PM (Panamá) and Avalúos Inspecciones y Construcciones (Avinco).
The consultancy works entail conducting commercial appraisal of land along the route of the 330km, 500kV Chiriquí Grande-Panamá III link, which will cross five provinces. The 1,280MW line would initially operate at 230kV.
The government plans to offer the project as a PPP.
